"The world is becoming better "
Solo exhibition @ The Glasgow Sculpture Studios Gallery
9-24th June, 2006

Title

'The world is becoming better' was the headline of the Daily Express on May 28th, 1928. A phrase as beautiful in its optimism as it is aggressively simple-minded in its deliberate dismissal of history, it was initially used for this work, but later it was reused for the title of the whole exhibition.

Each letter is 20cm tall, roughly 15cm wide, and 5cm deep. A different cardboard box was used for each, and the circular letters are held in place by matchsticks and blue-tack.
