| Computer Installations
I started this body of work in January 2005 using a pile of broken
and obsolete computer equipment I had salvaged from skips and offices.
I set about making these work again, then used them as building
blocks to create various architectural structures. The series ended in January 2006 with an exhibition at Edinburgh's Embassy Gallery.
There are 6 different works within this group.

"Limousine"
Shown at 'Braveart' - Atlantis Gallery, London
October
2005
An artwork made specially for my first exhibition upon leaving
art school, a farcical affair, sponsored and promoted by Standard
Life. The exhibition, titled ‘BraveArt’, drew a selection
of graduates from all four Scottish art schools, and whisked our
work down to glamorous London for an exhibition in The Atlantis
Gallery.
A piss-take or acknowledgment and acceptance? Or does it really
matter?

Google Image Search
This artwork used the Internet search engine Google as a tool to
recontextualise mass-media imagery in relation to it's textual counterpart.
Working from a list of around 70 words, covering a wide range of
references and pre-conceived notions, Google's image search feature
was used to find the 20 most viewed images for each word, which
were appropriated to create 60 second slide show-style videos.
This project was initially presented as a video installation for
an exhibition in September/October 2004 at the G2 Gallery, Chicago.

Blank Sign Project
An early but ongoing project, I started the Blank Sign as a performance
in February 2003. The premise was simple: holding a large blank
placard, I stood on Glasgow's busiest street for a regular period
of time (12-5) every day for a week. The artwork was a diary, which
detailed what people had thought the sign was about.
Since this initial performance, I have repeated the work, and taken
it do different cities (and countries). The method of presentation
has also varied, and encompasses book, sound, video and photography. |

Ephemera

I have made in the last year or so: book works, videos, performances
and sculptures.
